We believe that when people fall or become homeless we should help them back up, and offer them a future and a hope. We believe the best future is one that is built on an understanding and the application of God’s Word … and His principles, values, and virtues. We believe the way to do this is with kindness and compassion … which says “we value you and care for you.” As a way to let you know what motivates us to do what we do, may we offer the following selection of scripture verses that inspire us:
- Gal 6:1,2,10 “… bear one another’s burdens, and thus fulfill the law of Christ … so then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all men … ”
- 1 John 3:16-19 “We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. … little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth.”
- Mark 12:28-31 “What commandment is the foremost of all? Jesus answered, the foremost is … ‘you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength’. The second is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself’. There is no other commandment greater than these.”
- John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave … ”
- Isaiah 58:7 “ … divide your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into the house”
- Matt 20:26-28 “ … whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant … just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve … ”
- Prov 22:2 “The rich and the poor have a common bond, the LORD is the maker of them all.”
- Luke 14:12-14 “When you give a luncheon or a dinner, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, lest they also invite you in return, and repayment come to you. But when you give a reception, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed … ”
- Matt 25:31-37 “But when the Son of Man comes … the King will say … for I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.”
- Acts 20:33-35 “You yourselves know that these hands of mine (Paul’s) have supplied my own needs and the needs of my companions. In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
